NOTARY SIGNING AGENT
TRAINING COURSE:

In response to specific demand, ASN has created its own online Notary Signing Agent Training Course.

Upon finishing the course, those able to earn a 90% passing grade on a tough, 100-question exam can earn the designation of “ASN Certified” Notary Signing Agent.

As with all ASN education products, our signing agent course was created to be the most comprehensive and informative course available. Certainly, our course familiarizes the new Notary Signing Agent with examples of the documents that he or she will likely encounter at a home loan closing.

ASN provides a FREE one year membership in our Society to everyone who takes our Notary Signing Agent Training Course.

NOTARY SINGING AGENT ERRORS
AND OMISSIONS INSURANCE:

May 27, 2008  -  CNA Surety, a leader in writing surety bonds and errors and omissions policies for notaries public, has announced it now provides ERRORS AND OMISSIONS COVERAGE specifically tailored to the unique needs of NOTARY SIGNING AGENTS.

ASN applauds CNA Surety for recognizing, and responding to, the additional levels of responsibility and professionalism required of notary signing agents.

CNA's ground-breaking new E&O product not only specifically covers notary signing agent activities, but also demands higher expertise from those who would purchase it through qualifying criteria such as:

  ♦ experience as a notary signing agent;
  ♦ training;
  ♦ membership in a notary association;
  ♦ regular use of a notary journal.
"Signing agent work demands the utmost skill and best practices from notaries," said ASN Executive Director Kathleen Butler. "We are extremely pleased that signing agents now have a notary E&O product to address their unique needs. By meeting the qualifying criteria and then buying this coverage, notary signing agents can truly distinguish themselves among the many others providing this valuable service," she said.

CNA’s Signing Agent E&O insurance fills the gaps left by a traditional notary E&O policy, when the notary is providing signing agent services in a real estate loan closing. Signing Agent E&O covers the notary signing agent’s unintentional errors or omissions, and other activities such as getting all other signatures and initials, correctly dating the documents, completing the signing in the time period specified, and promptly returning the signed documents. Defense costs are also covered within the policy’s limits.

(While this new E&O product is not currently sold in all states, availability is growing. Notaries may learn whether it is offered in their state by clicking one of the links below.)

Where to buy Signing Agent E&O: It ASN’s policy to refer members to any notary bond/E&O agency with whom we have a working relationship through their sales of ASN memberships and products. Of those bond agencies, the only one that is also authorized to sell CNA Surety’s Signing Agent E&O insurance is Notary Public Underwriters, Inc.

(Please Note: ASN CANNOT sell this product—we do not sell any notary surety bonds or insurance products. Furthermore, we do NOT and CANNOT earn any income or commissions whatsoever from referring your business to a bond agency that can sell this product.)
