Hawaii Notary Requirements and Information

Hawaii Notary Commission Qualifications
Notary applicants must:
• be at least 18 years old;
• be a resident of the state of Hawaii;
• possess the other qualifications required of public officers (Hawaii Public Officers are required to be a U.S. citizen.)

Notary Recordbook (Journal) Requirement
Recordbook Required. Recordbook must be bound, soft-cover, consecutively numbered, and cannot exceed 11" high and 16.5" wide when fully opened. Inside cover area for Notary information and other required information.

Notary Seal Requirement
Round Ink stamp required, paper notarial acts.

Authorized Duties
• Acknowledgments;
• oaths and affirmations;
• witness document signings;
• attest to a document signer's identity;
• note protests;
• take depositions.
