Mississippi Notary Public Requirements

Mississippi Notary Commission Qualifications
Notary applicants must:
be at least 18 years old;
be a resident of the state of Mississippi and resided in the county of residence for at least 30 days from the date applying;
be a citizen or legal resident of of the United States;
be able to read and write English; and
not have been convicted of a felony (unless pardoned), not be incarcerated, on probation or parole.

*Notary seal image must be sharp, legible, permanent and photographically reproducible. Embossing seal may be used ONLY in conjunction with the official ink stamp, and only if embossing seal imprint is NOT inked.

Authorized Duties
oaths/affirmations;
acknowledgments and proofs;
execute jurats;
witness signatures.
