Oklahoma Notary Requirements and Information
Oklahoma Notary Commission Qualifications
Notary applicants must:
be at least 18 years old;
be a resident of the state of Oklahoma or a resident of a bordering state that is regularly employed within the state of Oklahoma;
be able to read and write English;
not have been convicted of a felony.

Notary Education and/or Exam Requirement
Not required.
Notary Bond Requirement
$1,000 Bond Required (4-year term)
Notary Recordbook (Journal) Requirement
Notaries Public must: 1) maintain records (a log) of all absentee ballot affidavits notarized, for at least two years after the date of the election; and 2) maintain records (a register) of all protests noted for banks. Records of protests for a bank shall be left in possession of the bank. Otherwise, journaling of notarizations performed for physically present principals is not required.
Electronic journal and recording/retention of the audio-visual communications session for every remote online notarization are required, Remote Online Notaries.
Notary Seal Requirement
Ink stamp or embossing seal required, paper notarial acts.
Electronic seal required/specified, electronic notarial acts.
Authorized Duties
Oaths/affirmations;
verifications upon oath/affirmation;
acknowledgments and proofs;
witness or attest signatures;
certify/attest copies;
note protests.
A Notary Public may also certify that a tangible copy of an electronic record (document) is a true and correct copy of the record. An Oklahoma Online Notary may notarize for a remotely located individual, using communication technology and subject to requirements and limitations in statutes and any administrative rules.
