Tennessee Notary Public Commission Requirements and Information
Appointing Officer
Governor - appoints notaries.
Secretary of State - performs ministerial functions including issuing and maintaining notary records.
Notary Commission Qualifications
Applicants must:
be at least 18 years old;
be a resident of the state of Tennessee or have regular employment within the state; and
be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident alien.
