Wyoming Notary Requirements and Information
Wyoming Notary Commission Qualifications
Notary applicants must:
• be at least 18 years old;
• be citizen or permanent legal resident of the U.S., or otherwise legally in the U.S.;
• be a resident of the state of Wyoming, have be employment within the state, or be a legal dependent of military personnel assigned to active duty within the state;
• not be disqualified to receive a commission under W.S. 32-3-122.

Term of Office
6 year term.
Notary Education and/or Exam Requirement
Effective July 1, 2021, notaries are required to take the Notary Education Presentation provided by the State of Wyoming AND take an exam (included with the Notary Public Application).
Notary Bond Requirement
No longer required, effective July 1, 2021.
Notary Recordbook (Journal) Requirement
Effective July 1, 2021, Notary Recordbook Required.
Notary Seal Requirement
Ink stamp (rectangular) required.
Authorized Duties
• Administer oaths/affirmations;
• execute jurats;
• take acknowledgments;
• take verifications on oath or affirmation;
• witness or attest signatures;
• certify or attest copies;
• note protests of negotiable instruments.
